A cabei de jantar no Garajau, e vimos mais de 30 embarcações pescando lulas. Fomos acompanhados pelo “Rob the Fish” da Inglaterra”, que perguntou: vocês têm festas para tudo mas porque não há uma “Festa da Lula”? Vou continuar em Inglês para reproduzir as observações do Rob.
“If we’re in Santorini or Italy or Nice and we had this squid, there would be a Festa da Lulas. Come on man, you’ve got some of the best lulas anywhere. Look at the amount of people who go out at night to fish them. It’s hard work and risky. Where do all these boats appear from? These are serious fishermen who dedicate themselves. Where’s the festival? Why aren’t we all dining on the seashore celebrating this wonderful seafood being captured fresh from the ocean?”
Uma sugestão na boa fé para a Secretara de Turismo.
“You Madeirans have got to learn to cook these beautiful squids”.
Vamos ouvir a sugestão do Rob antes de criticar.
“You need to remove the membrane, so it doesn’t taste fishy. Cutting it into hoops without removing it, spoils the taste. Your squid is the best in the world, so don’t spoil it. Beat it hard like the fishermen from Camara de Lobos. Don’t boil it slowly. It’ll taste like leather. You need to cook it hot and fast. Some olive oil, garlic and other herbs to your liking, maybe some white wine.”
A Great idea from an outside observer, Thanks Rob! Let’s celebrate all our hard working fishermen with a “Festa”!
